The Ofek Juvenile Prison has a unique Scouts Tribe inside which allows for 14-18 year olds in prison to have a sense of normal life even if it is just for a few hours a week. Having access to Scouting helps to instill values in the boys that will help them in the future.
Recently, this tribe received the Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Homeland Security for their achievements and activities that are being done with the boys in the prison. The activities include programs for rehabilitation and treatment, while still focusing on the values that are taught in the Israeli Scouts. The boys play games, do team building exercises, rope construction, and educational activities.
